BOYFRIEND JEANS

#streetstyle #style #streetfashion #fashion #boyfriendjeans #denim

The jeans that I absolutely love, since they a comfortable, simple, casual and simply because I’m too skinny to wear skinny jeans and I actually prefer to avoid skinnies. But how would you wear boyfriend jeans? Anyone would say “Wear with anything”, even I would say that, simply because boyfriend jeans fits into the criteria of “Too basic”, but in fact it can’t be worn just in any way.

Boyfriend jeans that are extremely loose at the end and worn with trainers/sneakers/flats wouldn’t look too good and could flatten the appearance. BUT! You can wear sneakers/trainers/flats with boyfriends jeans but pay attention to the length and how loose the jeans are. In my opinion, most or some boyfriend jeans does the job of giving or increasing waist size, which is why I prefer these to skinnies. Extremely long long boyfriend jeans that are tight just exactly on the hips, could also flatten the appearance and also really really long boyfriend jeans at the bottom, just makes it look like you bought a pair of jeans larger than your actual size. Another error is wearing boyfriend jeans that are too loose despite the fact that boyfriend jeans usually are loose already, you don’t want to go overboard by making it look like you placed your jeans in the washing machine and selected the wrong settings. Finally, extremely ripped boyfriend jeans can also ruin an outfit, although there isn’t a problem with ripped boyfriend jeans, even I like those but you don’t want to exaggerate, otherwise instead of being called ripped boyfriend jeans, it will be called “Lion teared apart” boyfriend jeans. If a pair of jeans is loose, large and stuck at the hips, you could grab a pair of loose t-shirt and tuck it in just at the middle and leave the sides of the shirt out to cover sides of the jeans. I have also seen that a simple large belt could also help, but swap the shirt for a loose blouse and also roll up the jeans if they are too long at the ends.

There are many ways to wear boyfriend but it’s better to avoid boyfriend jeans tight exactly on the hips, extremely ripped or extremely loose big looking boyfriend jeans. I will only mention a few minimalistic ways you could wear the boyfriend jeans.

LOOK ONE:

All Black

Has you can see, in this picture the look is very simplistic and shows no effort and in my opinion, it seems like in order to achieve the minimalistic look: the less effort, the better. This look only consists of a simple black t-shirt which is half tucked into the jeans, clearly showing a little of the hips and makes the outfit look casual without being too laid back. In fact it makes the outfit look more friendly somehow. The black blazer (I think it’s a blazer), blends well with the inner shirt and gives the outfit a more professional sophisticated look and is also more light weight. The blazer is extremely simple, meaning no details which again helps achieve the minimalistic look. Also, the size of blazer, in my opinion the larger/looser the blazer, the more casual or friendly the outfit looks. The bag, which in this picture seems to be an expensive bag, but if you are a money saver then you could get a bag that looks a little like this one, from these cheap brands: H&M, Daily Look, Nastygal, Monki, Asos, Blackfive, Modekungen or Freepeople. I haven’t bought anything from most of these brands but I know that Asos, H&M, Freepople and Nastygal, has good reputation and the others too I guess, but it’s best to check out a few reviews of the one’s besides the four I just mentioned, before buying something from them just to be sure. However, back to the bag talk, the bag in this picture is very basic and large helping create that minimalistic look but I don’t think the size of bag with this style matters too much but rather the details and colour. The jeans aren’t high waisted but it sits just above the hips and still is slightly covered by the long t-shirt, stopping the look from looking too flat. The ripped boyfriends shown above, which has minimal rips on the same areas and creates a extreme casual look. It kind of gives that impression “I don’t care too much about my reputation but just want to feel comfortable“. However, when it comes to minimal, it kind of means minimal in every piece in that outfit. This is referring to the amount of rips as well, you notice that the jeans has one big rip on the left leg and smaller rip on the right, it creates a balance. Where the rips are placed on the jeans matters, in my opinion a minimalistic look wouldn’t consists of rips all over the jeans ,from top to bottom simply because it strays away from the simple look and creates the impression of too much going on in the outfit. In my opinion, a more ripped jeans look should go without the blazer simply because the blazer gives impression of “Professional” and ripped jeans gives impression of “Too casual” and also the blazer gives impression of a cover up and extreme ripped jeans is more “No cover up” and showing more flesh.

LOOK TWO:

My idea of perfect cool

This look is very… relaxed but still within boundaries. It’s probably because of the blouse and heels which creates a contrast to the very relaxed “I don’t care what people say”, kind of jeans. The jeans, which looks good, contains huge rips but only on one leg, although in my opinion I wouldn’t wear these jeans, not because it ruins the look because in fact, it looks great and breaks the whole serious look. However, I’m more of “Hidden” person, in terms of wear, I don’t like to display too much flesh, in fact I find it rather complicating and not simple to pull it off. Anyways… The heels create a huge contrast, if you were to replace heels with flats or sneakers in my opinion, it would ruin the look since any flat shoe would mean too comfortable and relaxed. Unlike heels which escapes from that relaxed look and makes the outfit more edgy and daring. The loose blue half buttoned blouse, makes the outfit more boyish, which is in trend at the moment, “Borrowing form the boys”, like Vogue mentioned. The blouse also makes the outfit more loose.

The use of coral and gold/black accessories makes outfit more vivid giving more life, so anyone that sees the outfit knows that the outfit wasn’t worn by mistake but on purpose. I’m not entirely sure why I get that impression. Maybe because of the ripped jeans she’s wearing and the vivid coloured accessories causing that feeling “Yes, I did chose to wear the outfit by choice not because it was the only thing I found in my wardrobe”. I must say, the whole outfit is beautifully vivid but still daringly edgy minimal and revealing.

LOOK THREE:

I absolutely like her hair but it’s not part of the topic in this article sadly. Anyways… The look is very vivid and shows that she’s clearly played around with colours a little bit, it’s a nice outfit but I wouldn’t wear it simply because I wouldn’t be to comfortable wearing high heels, specially vivid ones but they are really nice and eye catching! The use of colourful accessories are nice too but I’m starting to think I’m not a big fan of vivid colours in an outfit but this outfit looks extremely nice and expressive, I think it’s simply because she uses certain types of colour but doesn’t exaggerate. It’s almost has if there’s some sort of relation between the colours used.

Anyways, I noticed that the jeans seem to sit exactly on the waist and actually worked, but maybe because she’s wearing a loose tucked in the middle shirt allowing the the rest of the shirt to cover up the sides of the jeans. The use of middle tucked in shirt for loose jeans at the hips is good, it stops the appearance from looking flat, carefree and too laid back.I have also noticed that these jeans could be the really large loose jeans type, but looks good, why? Maybe because the ends were rolled up to stop the jeans from dragging on the floor. The jeans no longer looks large because it was rolled up at the ends but looks nicely loose. Also, the rips… The rips look amazing, simply because they bring life to a large loose pair of jeans, stopping them from looking boring and genuinely like if you actually stole a pair of jeans from your boyfriend’s wardrobe. I also, think that maybe loose jeans stuck just at the hips, tends to suit heels more instead of flat shoes or maybe all black wedge sneakers although I’ve never tried that to see if it does work but maybe it does.

Anyways, thank you for reading this post and hopefully it helped. 🙂
