The use of minimalism in jewellery is becoming a trend again although it’s no new trend to minimalists. Minimalist jewellery contains neutral to darker colours and also seem to have a relation with each other. The best part about them is that they can be worn with any outfit because they are delicate pieces that don’t give off a harsh statement.

When choosing the right accessories, which in my opinion could be hard since they are very basic non statement pieces meaning freedom to choose any. But do keep in mind, that just because they a minimalistic, it’s best to keep the amount of jewellery worn, to a minimum. However, you could pay attention to any details/design on the accessory, type of accessory e.g. watch/bracelet and what occasion you think they are more suitable for and how comfortable you feel. Also, the colour of it.

To me the best part of minimalistic accessories, is that they go almost any outfit and the require such little effort but yet makes difference to the outfit without extravagance, it sort makes the outfit more delicate or lightweight.

Thank you for reading and hopefully this post helped, tried to keep it to a minimum since I write too much. 🙂

WHITE SHIRT DRESS

Arts & Science

The dress that can be used for any occasion and I ain’t referring to just any shirt dress, but that mid length shirt dress, that looks like an oversized white blouse. It’s not just classic but also refers to simplicity. But how to wear it?

There are numerous ways to wear it. You could wear it with wedge sneakers, flats sneakers, heels, flats e.g. gladiator sandals,  brogues, flat lace ups and ankle boots.

In my opinion, I would chose the very first picture , where the lady is wearing black brogues simply because it goes well with the dress and gives that minimalistic classic look. Or, I would wear all black or all white sneakers simply because it makes the whole outfit more light and more comfortable. The best part about this dress, is that it’s like an over sized blouse and blouses can be used for almost any occasion and looks classically simple and it seems like you can’t go wrong on a basic shirt dress.

However, there are different shirt dress fits e.g. looser, tighter, flowing or tight at the top and looser at the bottom which is apparently is said to be idea fit for woman with broader shoulder. Although, in my opinion, I would just go for a mid length extremely basic shirt dress without no details and simple sleeve because I think you can’t go wrong on that. However, be aware of buttoned shirt dresses that are an extreme tight fit since it can cause a bad effect or look to the dress, specially your larger at the top. Careful with the length and shoe wear, I did read on another fashion site (Fashion, all talk women), that the tighter/shorter the dress, the lower the heel or In my opinion go for a flat. This site also mentioned about dress fit not being appropriate for a certain body shape, in my opinion there are dresses that aren’t suitable for any shape! They simple make you look flat and ruin the silhouette. Apparently, for those who like revealing curves, it’s best to go for dresses that are just slightly more tighter around the waist. And for triangle body shape, I believe you could make use of dresses that are more fuller at the bottom, that’s only if you wan’t enhance lower body curves. If you are really curvy, then it’s best to avoid shirt dresses that are simply just “Straight” and don’t compliment your body shape, it can make you look really flat or cause a strange effect on the outfit. Or you could get a shirt dress that seems a little tight at the top and become looser towards the end, which is the one I prefer since it doesn’t reveal or hide the body shape. If you want don’t like the whole idea of loose shirt dress, you could just make use of a black or white belt (minimalist), since it saves more money instead of buying a new shirt dress or you have both choices of having it loose or tight at the middle and you choose how tight you want it to be.

Accessories, if you are a monochrome lover then you could use white or black accessories and if you’re aiming for a simplistic look, then less accessories the better and also less detailed accessories. If you don’t the like the idea of hanging around with a black necklace, then you could either not use any necklace at all but it depends also on the collar style of the dress I think.   I do also find it hard to pull of a black necklace, I’m not entirely sure why, maybe because black necklaces are too bold and attract attention.  For monochrome accessories, it’s more harder think off since monochrome is mostly based on black white and doesn’t go out of those boundaries. If you don’t like the idea of a black necklace you could make use of simple silver necklaces or plain white. Maybe, white or silver chain, either chunky or not but it does give off a statement and if do use this then chose the shoes carefully. For those who don’t mind black necklaces, then you could use a simple black choker, chain or just a normal necklace, maybe in gold. You could make use of statement but if you are a minimalist, don’t overuse statement accessories, try to only use one statement piece and keep the rest simple.  You could make use of hats but be careful if you picked a statement piece. The type of bag varies, for example, an outfit that only consists of a simple white dress and all black shoe, gives the freedom to play around with accessories. A white shirt dress and a black pair of shoes e.g. black lace ups, can go with a a print bag. For example, animal print, if you like animal prints but want play on the safe side, you could go for a simple animal print or a classic animal print e.g. leopard print or stick with a black and white animal print. If not, then you could go for bright prints e.g. statement print which consist of details and bright colours. You could aim for word/number/image print, keeping it simple. You could aim for African or tribal prints which makes the outfit more interesting and eye catching. There are many other prints out there but if you hate prints then maybe a transparent clutch which makes the outfit extremely minimalist and might make it look more futuristic depending on shoe wear. A futuristic look might consists of white platforms either boots or not or chose other cool colours instead of warmer colours. You could look into Jeffrey Campbell but there are cheaper platforms, try looking into Asos and if not there is a shop page on Polyvore where you can search for any clothing items just to give you an idea of where there might be cheaper platforms. These are just a few tips on the types of accessories you could use to help build a shirt dress outfit.

Thank you for reading this post and hopefully it helped. 🙂

BOYFRIEND JEANS

#streetstyle #style #streetfashion #fashion #boyfriendjeans #denim

The jeans that I absolutely love, since they a comfortable, simple, casual and simply because I’m too skinny to wear skinny jeans and I actually prefer to avoid skinnies. But how would you wear boyfriend jeans? Anyone would say “Wear with anything”, even I would say that, simply because boyfriend jeans fits into the criteria of “Too basic”, but in fact it can’t be worn just in any way.

Boyfriend jeans that are extremely loose at the end and worn with trainers/sneakers/flats wouldn’t look too good and could flatten the appearance. BUT! You can wear sneakers/trainers/flats with boyfriends jeans but pay attention to the length and how loose the jeans are. In my opinion, most or some boyfriend jeans does the job of giving or increasing waist size, which is why I prefer these to skinnies. Extremely long long boyfriend jeans that are tight just exactly on the hips, could also flatten the appearance and also really really long boyfriend jeans at the bottom, just makes it look like you bought a pair of jeans larger than your actual size. Another error is wearing boyfriend jeans that are too loose despite the fact that boyfriend jeans usually are loose already, you don’t want to go overboard by making it look like you placed your jeans in the washing machine and selected the wrong settings. Finally, extremely ripped boyfriend jeans can also ruin an outfit, although there isn’t a problem with ripped boyfriend jeans, even I like those but you don’t want to exaggerate, otherwise instead of being called ripped boyfriend jeans, it will be called “Lion teared apart” boyfriend jeans. If a pair of jeans is loose, large and stuck at the hips, you could grab a pair of loose t-shirt and tuck it in just at the middle and leave the sides of the shirt out to cover sides of the jeans. I have also seen that a simple large belt could also help, but swap the shirt for a loose blouse and also roll up the jeans if they are too long at the ends.

————————————————————————————————————

There are many ways to wear boyfriend but it’s better to avoid boyfriend jeans tight exactly on the hips, extremely ripped or extremely loose big looking boyfriend jeans. I will only mention a few minimalistic ways you could wear the boyfriend jeans.

LOOK ONE:

All Black

Has you can see, in this picture the look is very simplistic and shows no effort and in my opinion, it seems like in order to achieve the minimalistic look: the less effort, the better. This look only consists of a simple black t-shirt which is half tucked into the jeans, clearly showing a little of the hips and makes the outfit look casual without being too laid back. In fact it makes the outfit look more friendly somehow. The black blazer (I think it’s a blazer), blends well with the inner shirt and gives the outfit a more professional sophisticated look and is also more light weight. The blazer is extremely simple, meaning no details which again helps achieve the minimalistic look. Also, the size of blazer, in my opinion the larger/looser the blazer, the more casual or friendly the outfit looks. The bag, which in this picture seems to be an expensive bag, but if you are a money saver then you could get a bag that looks a little like this one, from these cheap brands: H&M, Daily Look, Nastygal, Monki, Asos, Blackfive, Modekungen or Freepeople. I haven’t bought anything from most of these brands but I know that Asos, H&M, Freepople and Nastygal, has good reputation and the others too I guess, but it’s best to check out a few reviews of the one’s besides the four I just mentioned, before buying something from them just to be sure. However, back to the bag talk, the bag in this picture is very basic and large helping create that minimalistic look but I don’t think the size of bag with this style matters too much but rather the details and colour. The jeans aren’t high waisted but it sits just above the hips and still is slightly covered by the long t-shirt, stopping the look from looking too flat. The ripped boyfriends shown above, which has minimal rips on the same areas and creates a extreme casual look. It kind of gives that impression “I don’t care too much about my reputation but just want to feel comfortable“. However, when it comes to minimal, it kind of means minimal in every piece in that outfit. This is referring to the amount of rips as well, you notice that the jeans has one big rip on the left leg and smaller rip on the right, it creates a balance. Where the rips are placed on the jeans matters, in my opinion a minimalistic look wouldn’t consists of rips all over the jeans ,from top to bottom simply because it strays away from the simple look and creates the impression of too much going on in the outfit. In my opinion, a more ripped jeans look should go without the blazer simply because the blazer gives impression of “Professional” and ripped jeans gives impression of “Too casual” and also the blazer gives impression of a cover up and extreme ripped jeans is more “No cover up” and showing more flesh.

LOOK TWO:

My idea of perfect cool

This look is very… relaxed but still within boundaries. It’s probably because of the blouse and heels which creates a contrast to the very relaxed “I don’t care what people say”, kind of jeans. The jeans, which looks good, contains huge rips but only on one leg, although in my opinion I wouldn’t wear these jeans, not because it ruins the look because in fact, it looks great and breaks the whole serious look. However, I’m more of “Hidden” person, in terms of wear, I don’t like to display too much flesh, in fact I find it rather complicating and not simple to pull it off. Anyways… The heels create a huge contrast, if you were to replace heels with flats or sneakers in my opinion, it would ruin the look since any flat shoe would mean too comfortable and relaxed. Unlike heels which escapes from that relaxed look and makes the outfit more edgy and daring. The loose blue half buttoned blouse, makes the outfit more boyish, which is in trend at the moment, “Borrowing form the boys”, like Vogue mentioned. The blouse also makes the outfit more loose.

The use of coral and gold/black accessories makes outfit more vivid giving more life, so anyone that sees the outfit knows that the outfit wasn’t worn by mistake but on purpose. I’m not entirely sure why I get that impression. Maybe because of the ripped jeans she’s wearing and the vivid coloured accessories causing that feeling “Yes, I did chose to wear the outfit by choice not because it was the only thing I found in my wardrobe”. I must say, the whole outfit is beautifully vivid but still daringly edgy minimal and revealing.

LOOK THREE:

_MG_7070

I absolutely like her hair but it’s not part of the topic in this article sadly. Anyways… The look is very vivid and shows that she’s clearly played around with colours a little bit, it’s a nice outfit but I wouldn’t wear it simply because I wouldn’t be to comfortable wearing high heels, specially vivid ones but they are really nice and eye catching! The use of colourful accessories are nice too but I’m starting to think I’m not a big fan of vivid colours in an outfit but this outfit looks extremely nice and expressive, I think it’s simply because she uses certain types of colour but doesn’t exaggerate. It’s almost has if there’s some sort of relation between the colours used.

Anyways, I noticed that the jeans seem to sit exactly on the waist and actually worked, but maybe because she’s wearing a loose tucked in the middle shirt allowing the the rest of the shirt to cover up the sides of the jeans. The use of middle tucked in shirt for loose jeans at the hips is good, it stops the appearance from looking flat, carefree and too laid back.I have also noticed that these jeans could be the really large loose jeans type, but looks good, why? Maybe because the ends were rolled up to stop the jeans from dragging on the floor. The jeans no longer looks large because it was rolled up at the ends but looks nicely loose. Also, the rips… The rips look amazing, simply because they bring life to a large loose pair of jeans, stopping them from looking boring and genuinely like if you actually stole a pair of jeans from your boyfriend’s wardrobe. I also, think that maybe loose jeans stuck just at the hips, tends to suit heels more instead of flat shoes or maybe all black wedge sneakers although I’ve never tried that to see if it does work but maybe it does.

Anyways, thank you for reading this post and hopefully it helped. 🙂

The vintage sneakers that were originally invented in 1906, made profit and popularity in the 70’s which eventually cooled off… But are now back! Sadly I still don’t own a pair of them despite the fact that they aren’t soo expensive here. Back then the purpose of their existence was mainly just for sports but now a days these sneakers have been given a new purpose for their existence. From bloggers all the way to designer… 80% Comfort and 20% style.

All though there some people out there who seem to have a grudge against the use of sneakers being used with everyday outfits, most people seem to have adopted the new style. It seems like it will be staying in trend for a long time or maybe forever, who knows. These sneakers aren’t just a ancient stylish piece but provide comfort for anyone on daily rush, it’s even better for those rainy cold days…Any woman can wear it and also these sneakers can either make up the look or create a good contrast depending on what outfit genre you’re going for.

Sporty look:

For those who had to hide their love for sporty outfits within the fashion industry…Now don’t! The sneakers can be used for a sporty look. You could perhaps go for a more radical monochrome look depending on the weather. For example, for winter you could aim for a more distinct athletic print t-shirt or long sleeve. A bomber jacket could also make up a sporty outfit along with vintage blue/black jeans preferably without rips, although it wouldn’t be a problem but would stray from a minimal look. This is because certain athletic print t-shirts are already clamped with big bold words, numbers etc and adding ripped jeans would only make the outfit look more complicated, since there’s too much going on but if that’s your style then by all means go for it. However, the colours do matter, if you are into a minimal style, then you ought to aim for more darker colours instead of vibrant since they scream for attention.

You could also wear a baseball long sleeve either with no words/numbers and keep it extremely simple or just stick with the usual baseball long sleeve which contains words/numbers. Jeans would look great, maybe vintage jeans or subtly ripped jeans with a baseball long sleeve for those ripped jean lovers who still try to keep it minimal.

The bomber jacket, if don’t mind the screaming attention of bomber jackets with numbers/words or lines then go for it. However, if you are too minimal but adore the sport look, then you could just stick with a simple black or white bomber jacket with no words/numbers/lines or extra details. You could aim for a bomber jacket with words/numbers, simple white tee half tucked into a vintage blue boyfriend jeans which makes the outfit completely simple but attention grabbing. The use of letterman jackets and black cardigans with words all over it and lines can also create a sporty look and goes well with a simple white tee. There’s even transparent bomber jackets which is funny since the whole meaning of transparent is not being visible however, it quickly attracts attention of the public since the transparency creates a contrast with the inner clothes. So, if you don’t like the whole “Public attention” but adore the idea of a transparent jacket, then you could aim for an all black look: black t-shirt or loose black tee, boyfriend/tight black jeans and a black transparent bomber jacket.

A black and white jumper/pullover can also help achieve a sporty look without looking too extravagant. The length of the socks being worn with sneakers can also break or make up the look also depending on the outfit.

You could also aim for shorts, for example a jean short for summer or a leather short for summer or winter. The leather shorts seems to add more sophistication to the look because of it’s material.

These are just few suggestions because there are many clothing pieces out there that help achieve the sporty look.

Non sporty look:

For those who are more into the simplistic style, not too into the whole sporty mood and aren’t keen on bright colours, you could make use of darker or neutral colours. For a minimalistic monochrome look, you could make use of a black boyfriend blazer, black skinny jeans and black loose long sleeve or a black loose t-shirt which creates a sophisticated casual look simply because of the blazer which helps create a contrast due to being opposite of casual.

You could go for a simple black buttoned blouse, either short or long sleeve, which will go well with the blazer. Then add in black skinny jeans or vintage boyfriend jeans which could help add a bit of colour to the outfit.

You could go for a black jumper/pullover/sweater which makes the whole outfit more comfortable. I have also seen people complete the look with leather skinnies, leather leggings, long or short leather pencil skirts with side zip detail or no detail. You could even use a black jumper/pullover/sweater with a long black leather pleated skirt which again creates a beautiful contrast since the jumper/pullover/sweater is mostly or was mostly used for casual occasions or simply used at home but now it’s even in the most important meetings and fashion events.

To finish a monochrome or non monochrome just minimalistic look, you could put on a long black trench coat or a MAC because it’s simple and light making it easy for people who are constantly in different places.

Accessories

Sporty look

The accessories play well in a sporty look simply because they add in more definition or statement to an outfit and help show the meaning behind the outfit being worn. For a monochrome or minimalistic sporty look, you could make use of darker coloured accessories or white accessories and the material or details matter since they clearly help the outfit stand out more. You could also exaggerate a little on the amount of accessories worn to make more statement. Making the use of hats and sunglasses can also help achieve the sporty look. The bags you could use could be leather/denim backpacks, small backpacks, medium to large backpacks, transparent backpacks or messengers and finally you could invest in bum bags or oversized/fold over clutches.

Monochrome/ minimalist

You could also make use of neutral/darker coloured accessories and maybe wear less amount of accessories since the lots of accessories adds more definition to a look and can stray away from a minimalist/monochrome look. You make use more of simple necklace and/or maybe two rings on each hand. The amount of accessories is also affected by the style of the New Balance sneakers being worn. Mild warmer coloured sneakers could mean not having too much accessories on and a darker pair of sneakers could allow the use of few more accessories on. You could make use of beanie hat, fedora hat and/or sunglasses depending on weather. The bags could be bigger oversized bags. messenger, backpacks and/or oversized/fold over clutches Finally, the details on the accessories can have either a negative or positive impact on outfit.
